Reader Survey 2006: The votes are in!

You spoke. We listened.

Congratulations to this year's winners and honorable mentions. And thank you to everyone for taking the time to vote.

Indy readers love their hair stylists. And their veterinarians, thrift stores, bartenders and burritos. More than 1,800 people took the time to fill out the 2006 Indy Best of the Triangle ballot, and what's truly amazing is how passionate we are about the things we love in the Triangle. We need a cook-off to choose Best Local Chef—it came out an exact tie. We had massage therapists fighting it out in back-breaking competition, a wrenching battle for Best Mechanic, and the choice for Best Retail Cheese Selection won by a nose. And while everyone can't have a favorite for everything, the range of readers' interests was extreme. The Triangle is as diverse as any area in the country, and the readers' choice award winners reflect that.

Some businesses put on significant get-out-the-vote campaigns—but what's wrong with that? Their customers thought enough of them to respond, and they made for some close battles.

Special thank you to: Best of the Triangle Ballot Project Manager Kacy Johnson

It's Albemarle AVENUE. Not to nitpick but it sounds so much nicer.
