--President Bush, in an interview with Tribune broadcasting. As The New York Times' website put it, Bush, "the most powerful political figure in the world, felt compelled on Monday to assert that he, not his advisers, was in control of his administration's policy on Iraq." Bush was responding to Democratic criticism of disarray in his foreign policy team using an unusual series of interviews with regional broadcast media, bypassing national reporters.
