Phantogram, Josiah Wolf

When: Tue., Sept. 28, 9 p.m. 2010
Price: $10-12

On their Barsuk Records debut, Eyelid Movies, upstate New York duo Phantogram throw a showroom's worth of kitchen sinks at the listener, with hip-hop breaks and spy-movie stunts co-mingling with shoegazing psychedelica and whatever else is handy. Despite such generosity, it's on trip-hopping tracks like "Mouthful of Diamonds" and "When I'm Small," with the sultry croon of keyboardist Sarah Barthel front and center, that the group's charms are most evident. Opening will be the folkish stylings of Josiah Wolf, better known as one-third of Anticon eclectic hip-hoppers Why? Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 day of for the 9 p.m. show. —David Raposa
