All the cool kids did it; they went on a quest for deeper meaning. Theater productions based on this theme generally have adult appeal (due to the storytelling) but reel the kids in too (courtesy of action-filled plotlines). Open Dream Ensemble, the UNC School of the Arts professional program dedicated to bringing art to the public, presents its current show for one performance only. The family-friendly play concerns a 13-year-old whiz kid on a mission to save the world from certain death. Along the way, she learns valuable life lessons that parents can discuss with their own kids afterward. And if those kids get hungry, their favorite foods will be on hand: hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, etc. The event begins at 4. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for ages 3–12 and free for ages 2 and under. —Sarah Ewald
