Orchestre R√©volutionnaire et Romantique with the Monteverdi Choir

When: Wed., Nov. 14, 7:30 p.m. 2012
Price: $39-89

The Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique returns to play Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, joined by the Monteverdi Choir for the "Ode to Joy" vocal finale. Sir John Eliot Gardiner conducts the orchestra, which is known for its devotion to period instrumentation. If Friedrich Schiller's poem "Ode to Joy" is a bit cheesy for your taste, the orchestra and choir also present Beethoven's cantata "Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage," based on a pair of Goethe poems. —Chris Vitiello
