I recall this beloved musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist ruined my slang—and that of my friends—back in the day. Based on the thick British accents we thought we'd picked up, we conceived several characters that utterly failed to capture the hearts of our high school classmates, with catchphrases I am too embarrassed to print, though I will say they involved the phrase "a good rogering." Please try to keep all of the preceding out of your head while enjoying N.C. Theatre's production of this heartwarming story of a plucky orphan's quest for home and family with such memorable numbers as "Where is Love?" and "I'd Do Anything." The production opens Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. and runs through July 22. —Zack Smith
