November Solve Locally puzzle

If you find this puzzle rough going, or just need a hint, a version with easier clues is available here: Easy Clues PDF or Easy Clues Across Lite puzzle.

We welcome questions, feedback and (especially!) puzzle submissions. Write to series editor Marc Maximov at crossword@indyweek.com.

This month's crossword is provided to us by Chris King, a University of South Carolina student and S.C. native. Call him USC's puzzlemaster: He's been published frequently in the Daily Gamecock, including an end-of-semester, seven-puzzle extravaganza featuring crosswords and sudoku, and he created the USC Puzzle Hunt, cousin to the renowned MIT Mystery Hunt. He's also an inveterate sports fan, which led him to create this puzzle in honor of the start of the NCAA hoops season.
