Talented multi-hyphenate Adam Rapp has done comedy, drama, young adult novels, multiple TV episodes, a feature film and even a graphic novel. You probably hate him after reading that last sentence, and we can't blame you. Effectively a long monologue, his play Nocturne has one of those first lines that pretty much guarantees you'll want to know what happens: "Fifteen years ago I killed my sister." Recounting the aftermath of this terrible event, the narrator goes on to explain its devastating effect on his family—and his own quest to find redemption. It's a dark, visceral drama that has earned widespread acclaim, an example of how Rapp doesn't just work in multiple media—he does it well. The performance features Jesse Gephart. —Zack Smith
