There's a popular Cuban song with the refrain (y voy a hacer un puente)—I'm going to build a bridge between Havana and Miami. Crossing that 90-mile gap interests New York vibraphonist Stefon Harris and his friends; in 2010, they recorded a Buena Vista-style collaboration on the island, but featuring jazz musicians. The resulting album and documentary capture young Cuban jazz artists standing toe to toe with Harris, Puerto Rican saxophonist David Sánchez and New Orleans trumpeter Christian Scott. For this tour, another NOLA native, Nicholas Payton, replaces Scott on the horn, and a Latin rhythm section is likely. —Sylvia Pfeiffenberger
