New Restaurants and Happenings

On Wednesday, Aug. 16 at 6 p.m., A Southern Season in Chapel Hill is hosting its first Culinary Game Night, testing contestants' food and wine knowledge with games such as Wineopoly© and foodSMARTS™. It's the next best thing to playing with your food (and much more socially acceptable)! The competition is for bragging rights only; snacks and cocktails will be served. Tickets are $20. Info: 929-7133.

On Thursday, Aug. 17 from 5:30-9 p.m., Panzanella in Carrboro hosts another meal in its Farm Dinners series, honoring local farmers and producers and celebrating the abundance of delicious local food. In addition to the regular dinner menu, dishes created with ingredients from Eco Farm will be served. Nestled back in the trees of Orange County, Cindy and John Soehner are working hard to create Eco Farm out of a tangle of 23 acres of North Carolina woods. Pay in advance and pick up tickets at either Panzanella or the customer service desk at Weaver Street Market in Carrboro. Info, reservations accepted for parties of six or more: 929-6626, www.panzanella.com.

On Wednesday, Aug. 23 from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Cold Stone Creamery at 6917 Fayetteville Road in Durham (484-0893) is hosting a fundraiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Inform the cashier you're there for the MS Fundraiser, and a portion of your purchase will be donated to fight MS. Volunteers will be present to provide information about multiple sclerosis and opportunities to volunteer with the National MS Society. Tickets are $95 and include the bus fare, breakfast, lunch, snacks, all winery fees and souvenir tasting glasses. Check-in is at 6:30 a.m. in Carrboro and approximate return time is 7 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the customer service desk in the Carrboro store.

On Sunday, Aug. 27 at 6 p.m., Parizade in Durham is celebrating their annual Greek Night, featuring a lavish buffet with traditional Greek fare, plus live Greek music and dancing. The cost is $30 per person. Info and reservations: 286-9712, ghgrestuarants.com.
