The Hibernian Restaurant and Pub in Cary is now serving two new menus. The first, a summer menu, offers lighter options, including several wraps and salads. Since 1995, Alliance of AIDS Services-Carolina's Evening with Friends has raised over $1.5 million, all of which goes directly to support those in the Triangle living with HIV/AIDS. On Tuesday, July 11, 518 West in Raleigh hosts the kick-off and donates a percentage of their proceeds from lunch and dinner sales. Starting July 12, the new Moore Square Farmers' Market will be open every Wednesday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. under the oak trees in downtown Raleigh at the intersection of Blount and Martin streets. Items for sale will include seasonal fruits and vegetables from local growers, pasture-raised meats from local farmers such as Coon Rock Farm, and a range of handmade items from local artisans, including breads from La Farm Bakery, cheeses from Chapel Hill Creamery and ice cream from Lumpy's. On Wednesday, July 12 from 5:30-9 p.m., Panzanella in Carrboro is hosting a Pig Pickin' Style Totally Local Dinner featuring a menu of foods created from ingredients produced and purchased within a 250-mile radius of Carrboro. This dinner is also a benefit for the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association, a membership-based organization of farmers, producers and individuals dedicated to expanding sustainable agriculture and organic farming in North and South Carolina. • Enoteca Vin

On Thursday, July 13 at 7 p.m., Enoteca Vin in Raleigh welcomes back Craig Lehoullier, a Raleigh-based chemist and internationally renowned tomato preservationist. Craig and his wife Susan will discuss their efforts to save some of the world's rarest tomatoes, how they've become the suppliers of parent heirloom seed to many seed companies--and how they've done it all out of their yard right here in Raleigh. Chef Ashley Christensen will prepare a dinner with some of the Lehoullier's 1,000 tomato varieties. The cost is $39 per person excluding alcohol. Call 834-3070 for reservations.

Cafe Pane & Vino in Chapel Hill has a new owner, LeRoy Peralta, who also owns El Patio Loco across the street. The new Pane & Vino offers 30 wines by the bottle as well as an assortment of high-alcohol and imported beers to complement the menu, which has been expanded to include some New Orleans dishes and flavors. Pane & Vino is currently open only for dinner and late night, but hopes to expand to lunch later. Call 942-1556.
