The dog days of summer have finally camped out over the Triangle, but Fearrington Village provides an oasis of sorts within the baked countryside. The North Carolina Poetry Society presents a trio of award-winning poets as a different kind of tonic. Hailing from the Blue Ridge Mountains, Kathryn Kirkpatrick has written many collections, including Out of the Garden, which was a finalist for the Southern Independent Booksellers Association Award. Gilda Syverson teaches at Queens University in Charlotte and publishes poetry as well as memoirs. Fuquay-Varina's Valerie Macon is known for Sleeping Rough, a work written out of the church community garden she founded called The Garden of Eaten.
