N.C. School of the Arts' Student Films

The N.C. Museum of Art will be screening five award-winning short films made by students from the N.C. School of the Arts' School of Filmmaking, whose profile has risen considerably with all the attention former alum David Gordon Green has brought the school with his film, George Washington. From Flowers and Freckle Cream (pictured), the story of a young girl in rural 1940s Carolina who vows to rid herself of freckles, to Special Day, a re-enactment of the historic lunch counter sit-in at the Woolworth's in Greensboro, these films reveal that there is a generation of distinctive young filmmakers working right now here in North Carolina. The films will "tour" the state this spring. See them in Raleigh this Sunday, April 22, 7 p.m. at the N.C. Museum of Art. See "Special Showings" for details.
