Nasher presents Wangechi Mutu artist talk (7 pm), book signing (9 pm) & dance party with 9th Wonder, Harrison Haynes (of Les Savy Fav), DJ Strider

When: Sat., June 15, 7 p.m. 2013
Price: Free

Have you seen Wangechi Mutu's exhibition A Fantastic Journey at Duke's Nasher Museum of Art yet? Particularly the Nasher-commissioned video work "The End of Eating Everything?" Have you stepped out of the darkened theater alcove with conflicted feelings of devastation and optimism, of predation and survival? Then you'll want to join the artist at Motorco to celebrate the release of her show's richly illustrated catalog. She'll discuss her work in relationship to musicians such as Santigold, who stars in that video work, with exhibit curator Trevor Schoonmaker, Grammy-winning producer 9th Wonder, critic and musician Greg Tate and Duke professor Mark Anthony Neal. After a book signing, they'll break it down into a dance party with 9th Wonder, Harrison Haynes (of Les Savy Fav) and DJ Strider. Plan to buy a catalog, yo. —Chris Vitiello
