Music in the Galleries: Supercollider

When: Sun., Aug. 18, 2 p.m. 2013
Price: Free

What's the right soundtrack to that back-to-school time of year? Maybe a dirge punctuated by cash register cha-chings? No, it's gnarl-pop. Chapel Hill's own trio Supercollider—consisting of bassist Allison Portnow (Ackland's public programs manager), guitarist-singer Chris Reali and drummer John Brackett—sets up on the museum steps for a free outdoor show fit for family picnicking. It's the first in the "Music in the Galleries" series, which, throughout the fall, will feature all sorts of Indian performance events to go with the upcoming exhibition The Sahmat Collective: Art and Activism in India Since 1989. —Chris Vitiello
