3 Short Films About Frustration
Perhaps following in the footsteps of Tarantino, who met his early creative partners at his video store job, Price and his VisArt cohorts have used their workplace as an incubator for their projects. "We've been working on each other's films for the last four or five years," Price says. Their efforts are starting to pay off: Last year, this team's short film Awake won the prize for best digital short at the Georgetown indie film fest.
This Saturday, Price and his collaborators will unveil their latest effort at a special midnight screening in Chapel Hill, a 58-minute film that bears the Kieslowski-like title of 3 Short Films About Frustration.
Shot between February and late August, under the direction of Lance Brown (who also edited), each segment features a different protagonist encountering myriad obstacles, "little things that keep them from accomplishing their goals," Price says.
This film will be preceded by several locally-produced shorts. "We want to give people 90 solid minutes of movie for their $3," Price says.
3 Short Films About Frustration will screen this Saturday, Oct. 4 at 12 midnight, at Chapel Hill's Carolina Theater. Tickets are $3. For more on the film, go online to www.3shortfilms.com.
