Raleigh's Exploris Museum opens its IMAX Theatre--the only large-format theater in the Triangle--this weekend, with screenings of two films: Mysteries of Egypt (pictured above) and The Greatest Places. Mysteries of Egypt is the first-ever IMAX film by National Geographic. Starring legend Omar Shariff, the film takes an expedition over the Nile and the Great Pyramids of Giza, across the quiet Valley of the Kings and into the shadowy tomb of King Tutankhamun. Educational and entertaining, Mysteries of Egypt will be shown--beginning Friday--along with The Greatest Places, a celebration of seven of the earth's most geographically dynamic locations, including the Namib Desert, the great icecap of Greenland and the Amazon. The Greatest Places is narrated by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine star Avery Brooks. See "Special Showings" for details.
