PITCH GALLERY—Be part of the evolution of this annual goth/industrial music event. The collection of video, paintings, photographs and illustration with decidedly dark—and at times humorous and beautiful—undertones has grown into a month-long art exhibition that begins today. On Friday, Oct. 5, you can meet the oxymoronic "high-profile underground" artists, including graffitist Antcrept, N.C. State student Iris Chen and cartoonist Eric Morin, at the official opening reception, starting at 7 p.m. For more info check out —Karlie Justus

DUKE COFFEEHOUSE—Melbourne, Australia's make plucky, intimate pop lined with acoustic jangle and easy beats, occasionally endearing and dreamy. The Ladybug Transistor is one of the least remarkable bands in the Merge stable, but their keyboard-and-guitar trills and gentle drift should get you through the night just fine. —Grayson Currin
