Chapel Hill
Yo Majesty
Local 506—When Tampa hip-hop duo Yo Majesty releases its debut album via Domino (soon, please), you'll hear it tagged as a breath of fresh air for the form and for feminism. But, as the duo offers unflinching sex and society talk over playful beats with a swagger and tag-team exuberance that most dude crews this decade can't touch, Jwl. B and Shunda K are more like nostrils of thick, pungent, humid summer air. They're proof that music can still challenge mores while having fun and showing the full, sweaty deck. With Dutchess Headbangerr, Rosetta Stoned and Austin b-girl crew The Born Ready Rockers. If you pay $10 at 9 p.m., you'll be reminding people you saw 'em before they knew 'em soon enough. —Grayson Currin
