Terror's Advocate/ Michael Tigar
Screen/Society, Duke Campus—Which lawyer has defended H. Rap Brown, Angela Davis and ... Texas socialite and Republican Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson? Duke law school visiting professor Michael Tigar, that's who. Tigar will be speaking and answering questions after tonight's North Carolina premiere screening of director Barbet Schroeder's little-seen Terror's Advocate, his documentary about the enigmatic Jacques Vergès, a lawyer for some of the world's most reviled terrorists and war criminals, including Slobodan Milosevic and Carlos the Jackal. Schroeder's eclectic career includes films such as the cult favorite Barfly, the highly regarded collaboration with the Colombian novelist Fernando Vallejo called Our Lady of the Assassins and soggy misfires like Murder by Numbers. The film is free and begins at 7 p.m. in Griffith Theater in the Bryan Center. Visit for more information. —David Fellerath
