Modern Man, Fooligans

When: Fri., June 15, 10 p.m. 2012
Price: $5

The cover of Modern Man's latest releases, Eyes No, juxtaposes goose-stepping soldiers with dancing flower children. The second image sits atop the first, with no Photoshopping to ease them together. It's rudimentary, unexpected and jarring. That's an accurate representation of the Greenville, S.C., band, whose off-kilter psychedelia—huge reverb splashes and disorienting echoic vocals—add shoegaze depth to stoner-jangle. With The Fooligans' indie-friendly guitar rock. Pay $5 at 10 p.m. —Corbie Hill
