Re: “Art of Cool Festival, Night One: Revive Big Band's Music-History Concert Leaves Out Women to an Absurd Degree

Revive is my people. If folks were offended by this, I can assure you it wasn't intentional. Revive Music was created and is operated in large part by one mastermind, an amazing woman, Meghan Stabile. The amount of events she's done that's either featured, spotlighted and championed women of color in American Music, past and present, is unsurpassed - Nina Simone, KING, Dorothy Ashby, Dianne Reeves, Helen Sung, Brandee Younger, Terri Lynn Carrington, etc. This concert may not represent that sentiment to some, but if anything, anyone who was there and/or is reading this article, please take away the important message, which is that Black American's did more than contribute to the artistic and social constructs of this nation - we are the very foundation of it. We are the mirror to the life of many generations. Do not allow this slant, this POV, to condemn all the amazing and incomporable work that Revive does for music. If you're in NYC, check out their event this weekend, a tribute to an legendary female musician, Abbey Lincoln. It features Esperanza Spalding, Carrington https://www.facebook.com/events/1129475177179382/
