"Never let 'em see you sweat." "Never continue a job you don't enjoy." "Never do it for the money." With graduations across the country fast approaching, quotes like these are sure to find their way into greeting cards and speeches alike. Quotation connoisseur Mardy Grothe, a psychologist, management consultant and public speaker, has helpfully compiled nearly 2,000 "quotable cautionary warnings" in his book, Neverisms: A Quotation Lover's Guide to Things You Should Never Do, Never Say, or Never Forget. They range from the classic ("Never bite off more than you can chew") to the practical ("Never select a tattoo because it's on sale") to the potentially life-saving ("Never do anything you wouldn't want to explain to the paramedic"). Perfect advice for those embarking on new lives or looking to minimize visits to the ER. In addition to tonight's 7:30 appearance at Quail Ridge, Grothe visits the Regulator Bookshop in Durham at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, and McIntyre's in Fearrington Village at 11 a.m. Saturday. —Lauren Taylor Shute
