Manbites Dog 25th Birthday Party

When: Sun., Dec. 16, 4-8 p.m. 2012
Price: Free

Had things originally gone according to plan, we would have been having this little shindig two months ago. But when the initial space that founders Jeff Storer and Ed Hunt chose for their maiden production fell through, they kept looking until they found a shuttered downtown shoe store... and their eerie production ofSeventy Scenes of Halloween became their Christmas show instead.

As any stagehand will tell you, the first quarter-century is the toughest. After closing the current revival of that first show the night before, the Dog asks The Drowning Lovers, banjo dancer Curtis Eller and Justin Robinson & the Mary Annettes to help blow out the candles on a cake that took 25 years to bake. The party runs 4–8 p.m.; admission's free, but of course you'll want to donate something to help make thenext25 as memorable as the first.Cake cutting is at 6 p.m., though there's no word yet on who's administering the birthday spanking. —Byron Woods
