Though there's been a recent surge of punk-fueled metal bands, including Seattle's Black Breath or Sweden's Martyrdöd, drawing globs of critical praise, Raleigh's deadly, decade-old crossover crusade Man Will Destroy Himself will hang it up after this two-night stand. With a menace soldered from black metal's bleak howl, hardcore's unrelenting blunt force and death metal's bruising groove, Man Will Destroy Himself crafted a potent metal mutant. Their 2011 album, This Is A Test, offers a swift beating, managing a striking dynamic between a maelstrom of body blows. Richard Bacchus & the Luckiest Girls share the bill on Friday, while RBT and Intheshit support Saturday's farewell. Both shows start at 9 p.m.; visit slimsraleigh.com for admission price. —Bryan C.
