Lucinda Williams, Kenneth Brian Band

When: Wed., Sept. 18, 8 p.m. and Thu., Sept. 19, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $35
Though she remains a favorite of Americana audiences, Lucinda Williams has spent the past decade reaching beyond the genre's borders—much as contemporaries such as Wilco and Joe Henry have done. At the deepest level, she's still a songwriter —few artists can say that every single song one of their albums has been covered, as was the case with Williams' 1988 self-titled LP—but on her last few records, she's pushed for sounds that stretch well past country and folk, drawing a lot from jazz and soul and even a little from hip-hop. —Peter Blackstock
