Low Counts, Dex Romweber Duo

When: Tue., April 16, 9 p.m. 2013
Price: $5

Not everyone has the fortune to be born in the right place at the right time. Singer and guitarist Matt Walsh, for instance, probably belongs in the pre-World War II Mississippi Delta, given his sidling growl and primitive style. Geography and era aren't destiny, though, so with his Statesville duo The Low Counts, Walsh's classic electric boogie blues pays its respects to the past while bringing in subtle doses of the present. It's a little T-Model Ford and a little "Mannish Boy." The similarly anachronistic Dex Romweber Duo shares the bill. —Chris Parker
