Though Durham is promoted as the "Diet Capital of the World," North Carolina is still one of the leading states for obesity: 29.3 percent of the population as of 2009, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, though we still rank behind much of the Southeast. The N.C. premiere of Lbs., presented by Structure House, a residential behavioral treatment program for obesity, features writer/ producer/ star Carmine Famiglietti as a 27-year-old who weighs more than 300 pounds and attempts to conquer his food addiction after suffering a heart attack. Famiglietti will attend the screening, which will feature a panel discussion with obesity experts afterward. Tickets are $10 and must be purchased in advance at www.structurehouse.com.
