Laura Boosinger tempers her ringing clawhammer banjo with a clear voice that hints at the smooth drawl of Patsy Cline. Boosinger cut her teeth playing an Appalachian take on western swing with the Luke Smathers Band, though she now helps preserve folk music with David Holt's backing band, The Lightning Bolts. With Bolts guitarist Josh Goforth, Boosinger forms a duo that shares the stories and histories that keep those old songs vibrant. The gentle lilting of Boosinger's banjo really is a thing of beauty, with the calming, restorative effect of a warm slice of apple pie. The free Music on the Lawn show begins at 6 p.m. —Andrew Ritchey
