Kindertransport

When: Nov. 14-17 and Nov. 21-24 2013
Price: $10
A million and a half children were killed in the Holocaust. But during the nine months before World War II began, the Movement for the Care of Children From Germany managed to get nearly 10,000 boys and girls to safety in England in a program known as the Kindertransport. In Diane Samuels' 1993 drama, a modern-day young woman named Faith discovers in her mother's attic the yellowed documents and keepsakes of a girl named Eva Schlesinger. Her mom and her grandmother know all about Eva. And until now, they've carefully kept this secret from Faith.

Brian Yandle directs a cast including Sharlene Thomas, Mary Rowland, Page Purgar and Eric Morales in this co-production with Big Wig Productions. This Sunday's matinee is a benefit for the Durham/Chapel Hill Holocaust Speakers Bureau and features a discussion with Dr. Henry Landsberger, a surviving Kindertransport participant. Byron Woods
