Musicologist Michael Beckerman (New York University) visits campus to deliver a guest lecture entitled “Kde domov muj?-Kdy domov muj? (Where Is My Home?-When Is My Home?): How the Czech National Anthem Lost Its Ending and What it Means” as part of the Carolina Symposia in Music and Culture. Beckerman, a prominent scholar of Eastern European music and musical nationalism, is the author of New Worlds of Dvořák: Searching in America for the Composer’s Inner Life (Norton, 2003) and Janáček as Theorist (Pendragon, 1994). Presented in conjunction with the UNC Center for Slavic, Eurasian, and East European Studies.
