Karen Booth

When: Sun., June 30, 2 p.m. 2013

Local author Karen Booth spent her teen years pining after the band members of Duran Duran and her 20s working her way up through the music industry, back in the days when Mammoth Records still existed in Chapel Hill. Booth has since retired from the biz, but now she's setting romantic novels against the backdrop of record deals and rock stars. Her full-length debut, Bring Me Back, is a steamy bodice-ripper about Claire, a music critic and single mom who gets to interview the 1980s British rock star she grew up idolizing. Need we even say that despite Claire's attempts to maintain a professional distance between herself and the sexy musician, things get more than a little bit heated? —Emma D. Miller
