Kaki King, Lady Lamb The Beekeeper

When: Sat., Nov. 17, 8 p.m. 2012
Price: $17-20

"Cargo Cult," an early-album highlight from New York guitarist Kaki King's new Glow, thrives on a restraint that the percussive string-tapper has often lacked. Though King still winds strands of notes into every melody she plays, this subdued beauty calls less attention to the technique than the tone and texture. That gentler, less self-aware touch is a consistent hallmark of Glow, a collection of atmospheres that suit the name the album takes. Lady Lamb the Beekeeper opens the 8 p.m. show. —Grayson Currin
