From concept albums about Marie Antoinette to records with heavily atmospheric acoustic components, and whether by tirelessly touring to the point that they've been able to call the road their home or releasing records on stateside metal bellwether Relapse, Jucifer has taken nearly every step imaginable to finally make it big. Yet here they are after more than a decade, still a married two-piece with little more than a cult following and a reputation for relentlessness, even as many fellow Southern metal bands have risen to wide acclaim in the last few years. But make no mistake: Onstage, Jucifer is as essential and immediate as most any act you'll find, with a twin attack of volume and vitriol that will make most audiences cower. They visit the area a few times a year, and each time brands their power anew. Greevace, Casualty, Shryock and Caligula open the 8:30 p.m. show. —Grayson Currin
