Jon Snodgrass, Cory Branan, Michael Casey

When: Fri., Feb. 15, 9 p.m. 2013
Price: $7-10

If you know Jon Snodgrass, you likely know him as the frontman for erstwhile Colorado alt-country combo Drag the River. His weather-worn baritone provides purchase for all manner of ache, or a grainy thwack to the ass on tracks such as the irreverent "Bad Kreuznach." That tune features Chris Wollard of Hot Water Music; Snodgrass has done sessions with a range of collaborators since DTR's dissolution four years ago. Cory Branan is among them; they released the Wolf & Cobra EP in 2009. Branan's third album, last year's Mutt, showcases taste broader than Americana, evoking at times Tom Waits. —Chris Parker
