Triangle American impresario Marianne Taylor has booked bands at Southland Ballroom for less than six months, since the Berkeley Cafe closed its music room this summer. Still, she's already made her presence felt with a load of touring country-rock outfits and an increased local connection for the downtown room. And apparently, she's made herself at home, too: "Marianne's Honky Tonk Holiday Party" brings one of the region's finest purveyors of the form, John Howie Jr., with his relatively new band, The Rosewood Bluff. Backslider leader Chip Robinson opens, while sassy and snappy proto-punk trio B Side Project take the middle slot<.
