It's been more than a decade since John Butler was a struggling busker on the streets of Fremantle in West Australia, but how things have changed: The antipodean singer-songwriter has toured the world, released seven albums (not counting several live recordings) and gone back and forth on whether dreadlocks are a good look. With percussionist Nicky Bomba and bassist Byron Luiters of Sydney's Ray Mann Three, Butler has shed some of the jam-band histrionics for a tighter rock sound.
