"Jello Salad"

When: Fri., June 28, 7-8 p.m. 2013
Price: free

Sculptor Gracelee Lawrence has shown two modes of work throughout the Triangle: intense geometric wire structures wrapped tightly with salmon-colored twine and secretive bricolage incorporating anything from medical pipettes to crab claws. Now she incorporates herself into the work for this interactive performance. Lawrence will teeter at the top of a four-tiered tableau involving a green chiffon nightgown, dining room tables and enough green Jell-O salads to feed a church picnic. She explores themes of family and gender in the traditional South and asks viewers to both contemplate and participate by adding their grandmothers' names to the work. —Chris Vitiello
