Jeff Daniels is one of those "square peg" actors everyone knows; his resume is both eclectic and inconsistent. Currently onscreen in Howl, he's been in acclaimed hits like Terms of Endearment, The Purple Rose of Cairo and Something Wild. For younger moviegoers, he's best known for such Hollywood comedies as Dumb and Dumber and 101 Dalmatians. In recent years, he's repeatedly been cast in leading roles as failed novelists in The Squid and the Whale, The Answer Man and Paper Man. And that's not getting into his oddball writer-director efforts of Midwestern humor, Escanaba in da Moonlight and Super Sucker. He founded a nonprofit theater in his Michigan hometown and has written 13 plays for it. On top of all this, he's a talented singer/ songwriter and guitar player, with a discography full of poignant and funny songs. The multitalented Daniels performs at 8 p.m.; tickets are $25–$39. —Zack Smith
