Ironing Board Sam

When: Sat., July 20 2013
Price: $8

Last month, documentarian Tom Ciaburri raised more than $10,000 in a Kickstarter campaign to produce Sam's Tenth, a biopic focused on the second-chance career of the septuagenarian bluesman Ironing Board Sam. Ciaburri will have plenty of material to work with: After more than five decades of only modest success, the man born Sam Moore partnered with the local Music Maker Relief Foundation this year to release Double Bang!, a two-CD collection of new recordings with old singles added as a bonus. Moore's best work is still done on stage, where his playful antics and infectious enthusiasm make his heartfelt blues all the more engaging. —Bryan C. Reed
