Playing a keyboard mounted to an ironing board, Sam Moore earned his moniker at the start of a lamentably obscure career. Over five decades, Ironing Board Sam cut compelling R&B sides for labels such as Holiday Inn and Atlantic, fronted a band that included a young Jimi Hendrix, and earned a reputation for showmanship. Fame never came. His full-length debut, Human Touch, arrived ages late, in 1996. Moore's story doesn't end there: Last year, he moved to North Carolina, picked up an active gigging schedule and issued two albums: the all-new Going Up and the previously unreleased early-'70s recording The Ninth Wonder of the World of Music. This free show starts at 3 p.m. —Bryan C. Reed
