Consider this a release party for the Brooklyn-based trio Sleepies' brand new LP, Weird Wild World; the album sees its official release the morning after this gig. For a sample of both the album's and the band's predominant character traits, look no further than "Seriously," the first single from the Ben Greenberg-produced album. "I take this all very seriously," singer/guitarist Thomas Seely slurs intermittently, his guitar winding barbed melodies around a lurching, punchy rhythm track from drummer Max Tremblay and bassist Josh Intrator. The song's woozy and wild punk thrillingly skews the band's more straightforward catalog. With must-see locals Infección and Flesh Wounds. —Bryan C. Reed
