Oklahama rockers and Sleazefest regulars Billy Joe Winghead are playing a show this Friday, April 6, at Local 506 with their pals, the fabulously trashy Jimmy & The Teasers, who have a swingin' girl drummer, Valerie. (Cross your fingers that Val's bass drum head still has the picture of the woman with tassles that blow up every time she nails the kick drum pedal.) Last in town to play ElvisFest 2001, the Wingheads always deliver a good time. Call 942-5506 for details.

Brooklyn's denim-clad heavy rock trio, Kung Pao, appear with everyone's favorite Filipino Elvis, Renelvis, this Friday, April 6, at Kings. Also on the bill are 15 Minute Roadkill and Joe Christ's "freaky films," so there's a little something for everybody. In case you're wondering what Kung Pao--a relatively new entry into the heavy guitar trio arena--is all about, their manifesto says that they're "international beer smugglers, traveling the world in our Crack Van searching for tube-tops and Raspberry Lipsmackers." They might just get lucky in Raleigh. Call 831-1005 for details. --Angie Carlson
