In movies

For Triangle movielovers, January is when the North Carolina Museum of Art kicks off its annual Winter Film Series. This year, curator Laura Boyes has programmed a marvelous array of films. The series begins this Saturday, Jan. 10 with Fellini's celebrated 8 1/2. Later this month, we'll see four other foreign classics that many of us haven't seen since college: Kurosawa's The Hidden Fortress, Godard's Breathless, Bergman's The Seventh Seal and Herzog's Aguirre, Wrath of God.

Future offerings also include Gregory Peck, Katharine Hepburn and Bob Hope, who each get their days of remembrance with screenings of To Kill a Mockingbird, Roman Holiday, Bringing Up Baby, The Philadelphia Story, Adam's Rib, Road to Morocco and Cat and the Canary.

Most films are on Saturdays and, unless otherwise noted, show time is 7:30 p.m. Tickets to individual screenings are $5 and $3.50, while passes for 10 films are available for $35 to the general public and $25 for NCMA and Cinema, Inc. members. For more information, visit www.moviediva.com.
