Although they're a roots-based band, The Avett Brothers--brothers Seth and Scott and bassist Bob Crawford--have a streak of grunge in them. "We don't deny it," says Seth. ";We love Soundgarden. We love Alice In Chains. We love Nirvana. We're big fans of a lot of stuff that came out of Seattle in the early '90s." Avett says that you're as likely to hear Faith No More as Woody Guthrie in their music. Fans of the brothers will have plenty of opportunity to hear their music. In addition to their heavy touring schedule, the band has vowed to put out an album a year. The Bros play with Langhorne Slim at Cat's Cradle on Thursday, May 5 at 9:30 p.m. Tickets run $8 in advance, $10 day-of-show.
