In dance

Tango expert Facundo was dancing before most kids even learn to tie their shoes. At age 3, he could do the Candombe, an African dance that actually precedes the tango in origin. By his teenage years, the Argentinian had mastered the tango, milonga and creole vals and he had also met Kely, the girl who 30 years later would become his wife and lifetime dance partner. The world-renowned pair will show off their dramatic and intricate moves this coming weekend at several events hosted by the Triangle Tangueros. While Facundo and Kely are sure to exhibit formidable skill in their Feb. 23 performance at Parizade (Una Noche de Tango, choose a prix fixe dinner plus show and dancing for $32, or just the dancing for $10), they are also fabulous teachers and will lead workshops at the Triangle Dance Studio in RTP on Feb. 24 and 25. Triangle Tangueros encourages beginners and masters alike to take part. Call 402-9562 for details.
