Special Olympics founder Eunice Kennedy Shriver once said that the only records broken at Special Olympic events are for the above three words. Each year, more than 1,000 athletes and their families visit Raleigh for the Summer Games to remind us of that. This year venues include Pullen Aquatics Center, Garner High School, North Raleigh Gymnastics Stewart Theatre, Buffaloe Road Park and Carmichael Gymnasium. Opening ceremonies are at 8 p.m. at Dorton Arena. Visit www.sonc.net for more information.
