Thousands are heading to Washington, D.C. on Thursday, Jan. 20 to protest the 55th presidential inauguration. The protest, organized by the D.C. Anti-War Network (www.dawndc.net) and Turn Your Back on Bush (www.turnyourbackonbush.org), will be met with unprecedented (and expensive) levels of security including over 6,000 law enforcement officers. For those of you who can't make it to Washington this week, there's plenty of counter-inaugural action around here. The Blue Dot Ball (www.bluedotball.com) on Friday, Jan. 21 at the Durham Arts Council features comedian Dave Lippman, Lisa Uyanik & The Mobile City Band, and plenty of blue sentiment. Tickets are $20.
