A couple of years ago in Memphis, Chris Strachwitz of Arhoolie Records reportedly heard a unique and exceptional gospel group. The next day he signed the band and booked studio time. Three days later he recorded them. That ensemble, the Campbell Brothers (pictured left with vocalist Katie Jackson), has finally made its way to Durham, after Hurricane Floyd canceled a September date, with the highly energetic sacred steel music of the Keith Dominion sect. The Campbell Brothers praise Him to the rafters with a pair of steel guitars, two female vocalists, electric guitar, and drums. The Triangle Blues Society presents the rare and wondrous music of the Campbell Brothers at the Bud Powell Center in Durham's Shoppes at Lakewood at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door (please call 834-8667 or visit www.triangleblues.org). --Art Menius
