in bringin' it back

This weekend welcomes the return of Meanwhile, an arty smorgasbord, which made its start in downtown Durham nine years ago, when a group of artists collaborated to host a community art event that would provide exposure to little-known artists. The event coincides with Durham's third Friday culture crawl and--in addition to the wide array of visual art offerings--will include musical performances, poetry and participatory events, including "Paint the Bus," where visitors get to, well, paint a bus. Saturday night features music from bands Wigg Report and Dom Casual, among other surprises. Locations for Meanwhile include: Durham Arts Initiative (Mr. Shoes Building), 122 W. Main St.; Porcupine Properties, 119 Parrish St.; Artists Space, 305 Chapel Hill St.; MK's House of Jazz and R&B on West Main St.; The Not Park, corner of Main, Parrish and Corcoran sts.; Arts Integrity, 808 Washington St.; and Ringside, 308 W. Main St. See the full story on page 35 of the Indy.
